Youth Leadership Development through Outdoor Education in Maine
Maine’s expansive natural beauty provides an ideal setting for youth education, yet many young people in the state struggle to find opportunities for leadership development, particularly in environmental stewardship. Recent studies indicate that Maine has one of the largest concentrations of outdoor recreational areas in the country, yet many youth from urban areas do not have consistent access to these resources. Without proper guidance and programs, the next generation may miss out on the connection between leadership skills and environmental advocacy.
The initiative aims to target young people in both rural and urban Maine, particularly those who have not engaged with outdoor recreational activities or leadership opportunities in the past.
