These groups frequently encounter difficulties accessing treatment options, resulting in delayed care and diminished quality of life. In some instances, residents travel over an hour to visit a healthcare provider, which can be prohibitively burdensome. Maine's distinct demographic profile, characterized by its aging population and geographical isolation, necessitates targeted funding strategies that address these specific barriers.
To tackle these challenges, the HEAL Coordinated Approaches to Pain Care in Health Care Systems Program will conduct assessments to identify pain care needs in Maine's rural communities.
