GrantID: 74146
Grant Funding Amount Low: Open
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: Open
Summary
This grant supports innovative work in the marine and coastal sector, especially targeting startups, nonprofits, and small businesses that develop technologies or projects aimed at improving coastal resilience, ocean monitoring, or maritime security. Eligible entities include U.S.-based or U.S.-registered organizations—ranging from early-stage ventures to more established small- to mid-sized companies. The opportunity is open nationwide through a regional hub based in Southern
California, with both virtual and occasional in-person components that benefit from local coastal resources.
The grant is structured in two tiers: one for earlier-stage groups, and another for those further along in development. After completing a short accelerator program—free of charge and requiring no equity—participants can apply for modest financial awards to support specific development goals. For emerging innovators, there’s up to $10,000 in non-dilutive funding to assist with prototype refinement, team support, or travel for market or customer discovery. For scaling ventures, awards of up to $200,000 are available to advance commercialization efforts, build capacity, or conduct field testing and travel for pilot deployments.
The program offers access to tailored training sessions, mentorship from industry and technical experts, and exposure through demonstration events. Participants also gain workspace and access to specialized lab facilities to support technical development. The intent of the funds is broad enough to be used for product advancement, commercialization planning, staffing, partner engagements, or travel associated with scaling the venture or project.
The goal is to foster growth in the ocean-related innovation ecosystem, including resilient coastal communities, sustainable maritime operations, environmental monitoring, and marine data solutions. U.S. nonprofits, small businesses, and focused teams are all encouraged to apply. The program welcomes diverse applicants working within ocean and freshwater domains, offering them the support structure and resources needed to grow their impact.
